How to insert a link in WordPress

Html links in text on your WordPress page can help visitors navigate the page. Links are also used to allow visitors to download content from your site.

Now click the “Link Options”. This will open a separate window. You will see the inserted URL and text of link here. You also have the choice of whether you want the post or the page that html link leads to appear in a new browser window or not. Now click “Update”.

💡 Tip: Choosing the right hosting is crucial for a fast website ⏱ . I recommend betting on verified quality ➡️ Bluehost or SiteGround.

Correction of misspelled URL

If you typed the URL incorrectly, WordPress will notify you with a red border. The URL name will also be in red. To fix it, simply click the “Edit” button and reinsert the URL.

Inserting of html link to media files

Some files, such as PDF files, you do not want to insert directly into the text. You can link them using the html link. First, click the “Add File” button in the WordPress Visual Editor.

The Media Library window opens. If there is no file in your library, drag it directly from your computer to the media library or use the “Upload Files” option to upload it.

Now edit the “Title” of the file. The title will be used as text for the html link on the WordPress page. Select “Media File” in the attachment display settings. Below it, the URL of the file appears automatically. Click “Insert to Post”.

💡 Tip for themes: From premium themes, I have good experience with themes Divi, Avada and with page builder Elementor.

Editing and removing of html links

To edit a link you have created, click the html link and click “Insert/Edit Link” again. The same window opens as when inserting a link. Make the necessary adjustments and click “Create Link” again.

To remove the html link, click the second “Remove link” button.

💡 Do you want a faster ⏱ website? Website speed is important for both visitors and SEO. I got the best results thanks to the WP Rocket plugin, which I highly recommend.
