What is Shoptet ?

Shoptet is one of the most popular Czech providers for creating, managing and maintaining an e-shop.

It is a platform for e-shop solutions, which focuses mainly on budding entrepreneurs or complete beginners who do not yet have much experience in creating online stores.

Shoptet can be proud of a long tradition, an incredibly large number of satisfied customers and positive references – it has been operating since 2008 and was founded by Miroslav Uďan (after his departure in 2021, his successors took over the management of this company).

Currently , more than 31,000 people around the world use Shoptet as an e-commerce solution.

If Shoptet should be characterized in just a few words, it is, in short, a very simple and quick solution for anyone who is going to set up a reliable e-shop.

Shoptet price list

Shoptet offers several paid tariffs – each of which can bring you more and more benefits (depending on the size and needs of your e-shop).

Currently, Shoptet provides 4 paid tariffs:

  • BASIC – offers up to 100 products and 32 accessories
  • BUSINESS – offers 1000 products and 40 accessories
  • PROFI – up to 5000 products and 60 accessories
  • ENTERPRISE – 50000 products and 70 accessories

With each of these tariffs, a payment gateway (free), a cash register system is a matter of course, and with PROFI and ENTERPRISE you also have an unlimited number of users who can use Shoptet .

In addition, Shoptet also offers a FREE version , where you can manage 10 products/1 email and 1 user along with 22 add-ons.

Although Shoptet’s price list is slightly higher compared to other competing e-shop solutions, its simple user interface and excellent support can make up for the extra few euros you pay for it.

Alternatives

When comparing Shoptet’s prices with its competitors, it looks approximately as follows:

  • Eshop-rychlo – offers significantly lower price tariffs, but at the cost of the fact that it is not as user-friendly (in short, it is a bit more complicated).
  • UPgates – is a relatively good alternative to Shoptet, but it is a few euros more expensive.
  • Shopify – one of the most famous Canadian platforms offers an unlimited number of products for all its tariffs and an equally great and pleasant user interface. On the other hand, however, Shopify is not very adapted for the Slovak and Czech markets (which can be reflected in the installation of some plugins, elements, etc.).

What does Shoptet offer?

Shoptet is first and foremost a full-package provider – you will find practically everything you need to start your e-shop.

Now let’s take a look at what Shoptet can offer you, as well as its pros and cons.

Login and use

For those who do not want to immediately jump into the paid version, Shoptet offers a free demo version, thanks to which you can try out how this platform works.

The only thing you really need to do is simply enter your email address and register.

Shoptet will then provide you with a trial version for up to 30 days, and although you won’t have access to everything in it like the paid version, you will at least have the opportunity to see how Shoptet looks and works in practice.

After 30 days, you will be given the option to switch to the paid version.

The main advantage of the Shoptet platform is that it is easy to use – it requires practically no programming basics (all you need is a computer, keyboard and mouse 🙂 ).

If you are not sure about any element on Shoptet, you can always go to Shoptet University, where you can get acquainted with a large amount of useful information about the establishment and operation of your e-shop.

The installation is followed by the administration of the website itself – depending on the size of your project, creating an e-shop can take a few tens of minutes or a few hours.

Product management

Product management is one of the most important tasks of anyone who owns an e-shop.

Shoptet scored high in this regard – when posting products on your website, you can easily choose the product price, quantity, selection of a specific category as well as visual elements (e.g. photos).

In addition, you can add additional information to the products, such as information about the supplier, warranty, discount percentages, gifts, etc.

Product management in Shoptet as such is intuitive enough. Simply go through and read item by item – it will be immediately clear to you what it is for.

Appearance and templates

One of the disadvantages of the Shoptet platform is its limitation on the number of templates – it currently offers its users only 11 types.

This small minus can be a bit of an unpleasant experience, but on the other hand, Shoptet offers many options for how you can modify these templates – from choosing your own color schemes, through the layout and appearance of pages and categories, as well as the appearance and details of the products you are going to sell.

In addition, you can place different elements on the page using a simple ” drag&drop ” function.

For more demanding coders, the possibility of editing the CSS code will probably be missing, it should not be forgotten that Shoptet focuses mainly on beginners and moderately advanced users.

As for the templates as such, we can say that they are very diverse and of high quality – although it is only a limited number, you should have no problem choosing the one that suits you.

The good news is that, in addition to templates created directly in Shotet, the provider also offers templates from other designers and external partners , from which you can choose directly on the Shoptet website.

Shoptet accessories

Add-ons on Shoptet will help you stand out from your competition and also make the user interface of your e-shop more pleasant.

As a platform, Shoptet offers more than 200 plugins – these are a wide range of elements on your site, such as:

  • language mutations
  • automatic and manual generation of discount coupons
  • product insurance when ordering
  • a tool for obtaining a commission from the sale of insurance
  • … and many others

However, it should be noted that the vast majority of these add-ons are only available with the paid version.

With the free version of Shoptet, the user has access to about 20 add-ons.

Shoptet payments and shipping

As standard, Shoptet also offers payment by bank transfer or cash on delivery.

As for payment gateways, Shoptet offers its users several options (such as GoPay, Stripe, ComGate, etc.).

However, it is necessary to note that with some payment gateways you will have to buy an add-on from Shoptet, or seek professional help when installing the payment gateway.

In any case, you don’t have to worry about anything – Shoptet has its own database of experts and verified partners who can help you set up payment gateways.

In the case of transport, it is possible to use the services of all well-known Slovak and Czech carriers at Shoptet, such as:

Perhaps one of the biggest (and obvious) advantages of Shoptet Pay payment gateway is its direct connection to Shoptet e-commerce platform – you can launch the gateway directly in your e-shop in just a few clicks.

Another great advantage of this payment gateway is its philosophy, which is also reflected in Shoptet itself – managing the gateway is very simple and user-friendly, which can be a big plus especially for less experienced online entrepreneurs.

From the customer’s point of view, Shoptet Pay is a very straightforward payment gateway – the customer does not have to go anywhere else when paying (the gateway does not open a new window but remains on your website).

Likewise, making the payment itself is quick and easy.

In addition, Shoptet Pay offers customers an intuitive environment for complaints, refunds, basic overview, etc.

Shoptet does not forget about online marketers, who want more from the e-shop than just placing products.

Among the standard links to Shoptet is, for example , the insertion of a Facebook Pixel or Google Tag manager.

In addition, you even have the option to connect your e-shop to the popular email tool Mailchimp.

If you plan to create your own affiliate program, Shoptet can also provide you with the option of setting up your own program directly in the e-shop administration.

Shoptet can boast of an excellent approach to its clients , as it always tries to answer any questions within a few hours.

Perhaps a small disadvantage of support is the absence of live chat – but only a few offer that kind of support.

For practical questions, you can always visit Shoptet’s educational pages and its FAQ pages, which will help you with a large number of problems that you may unexpectedly encounter.

User experience

Shoptet uses the gamification method – in other words, creating an e-shop should be fun for you.

In practice, this means fast progress, which Shoptet always alerts you to along with a pleasant tutorial in a playful form (for each completed task, you get a percentage of progress as a reward).

Instructions on how to find your way around Shoptet and how to create your own e-shop in it:

1. Registration and initial settings

The login and initial settings on Shoptet are very simple.

If you just want to try this platform on a non-binding basis, simply click on the “TRY IT” icon on the Shoptet home page – then a window will appear where you just enter your e-mail and click on the “SEND” button:

Note: If you would like to switch to Shoptet from another e-commerce provider, Shoptet has prepared instructions on how to make the switch .

After registration, Shoptet will immediately take you to the settings of your first e-shop, along with a welcome window and login data:

The free version is essentially a test model of your potential e-shop – so you will have an overview of everything that Shoptet can offer you.

As it is not yet a “sharp” version, you don’t have to worry about anything and you can easily familiarize yourself with all the settings, buttons, adjustments, etc.

Throughout your testing, you have help available, or a guide that will always be handy when setting up your e-shop.

In addition, you will also have a menu with your progress of setting up your first e-shop:

2. Basic overview

In the full introduction, you are in your basic overview – the administration window.

Here you will find a general overview of your e-shop (such as statistical data on orders, customer information, news, etc.):

In the left part of the window, you will find the general menu of your e-shop, which consists of several items:

If you would like to try one of the paid tariffs (purely as a demo version), click on the item “Administrator” in the top bar of your basic report and click on the item “Tariffs, payment and invoices”:

In the “Tariff” section, click on the “CHANGE TARIFF OR PAYMENT FREQUENCY” button and choose the tariff according to your preferences (by default, you will have the highest “Enterprise” tariff turned on in the demo version:

3. Appearance and content

When choosing the appearance, or after selecting your template, go to the “APPEARANCE AND CONTENT” item in the menu located on the right side of your basic administration overview and click on the “Templates” item:

In this section, you can try individual templates and their color combinations – if you want to see how your e-shop would look in a given template, click on the “DEMO E-SHOP” button:

After choosing your template, click the “SAVE” button in the upper bar of the screen – this step will set the template as the look for your e-shop.

In addition to the template, under the item “APPEARANCE AND CONTENT” you will also find important visual adjustments for your e-shop (such as settings for the front page, menu, articles, links, etc.)

4. Settings

If you want to fill in the basic settings of the store (such as currency, languages, taxes, etc.), you can find them in the basic menu under the item “SETTINGS”:

Under the item “Store settings” you can fill in general and invoicing data, as well as contact data for customers (such as merchant name, email, phone number, etc.):

5. Products

You can find adding products in the main administrative menu under the item “PRODUCTS” – Overview.

In this section, you can click on the “ADD PRODUCT” button and fill in the basic data:

6. Optimization and marketing

To optimize your website along with general online marketing, click on the “MARKETING” item in the administration menu.

In the given menu, you will see your options (e.g. Newsletter, basic and advanced SEO, SMS notifications, etc.), which you can set during the creation of your pages:

7. Domain

The free version of your e-shop will run as a demo on the generated domain and address (eg 123456.myshoptet.com ).

In case you order “sharp” or real version of your e-shop, you will be able to move your shop to your own domain.

If you decide to switch to a paid “sharp” version of your store, just click on the “Order” button at the top of the screen.

Then you choose the tariff that would suit you, pay for the given item and your e-shop will be automatically transformed into a sharp version (all the data and settings you made in the free version will remain intact):

Note: If at any time you need to look at the help again, Shoptet will have the so-called “Your helping hand”, which you can find in the Basic overview of your administration menu.

After clicking on the given item, you will see a window with all the steps that you have not yet done (or have already done) during the basic setup of the store and clear instructions on how to do them and what they are for:
