The last articles that were published on the blog were mainly about marketing and various tips on how to improve your WordPress site. Today we will talk and show you something about the navigation menu. About how to create it and how to give it the structure you need.
I found several discussions on the Internet in which people asked how to create navigation menus and menus for individual topics, in which they would then be able to post.
In this article we will show you how to create a navigation menu and also how to add a topic to the navigation menu without to create new pages or write any HTML code.
Let’s say we are working on creating a page about tips for traveling to several interesting places in Slovakia. You want to add specific place names to the navigation menu. You want to place other categories under these names, such as accommodation options or good food or culture.
Let’s go. We will show you step by step how to create the navigation menu you need.
The navigation menu is the structure of the page according to which users are able to navigate your site. The menu helps them find information and browse different sections. It is most often located at the top.
Categories play a key role here. The advantage is that you can categorize a post as you write it. A section with categories to choose from will appear on the right.

Let’s create the first navigation menu.
The first step after registration will be to get to your Wall / Dashboard – Appearance / Appearance – Menu .
You must name the menu. E.g. Main menu, It will look like this:
Next, you will need to select the pages you want to appear in the menu. You can click on this page on the left. Once you have decided which pages to display, you simply save them. To do this, click on ” Save menu ” on the right.

View your page and your new navigation menu should look something like this:
Don’t worry about not being sure what your menu looks like when creating. Simply open your page in a new window, and each time you save your changes, they should refresh to appear on your page. If you don’t like the layout, you can always change it. Choose exactly the order you want. You can change the menu structure simply by taking the required part and moving it elsewhere.
You have mastered the main navigation menu, now let’s go to the so-called “Drop-Down” or scroll menu.
To create a scroll menu:
If a simple menu is not enough for you, let’s create a menu that will contain subcategories in addition to the main categories (about us, contact, Bratislava). In Bratislava you can easily find out more information, restaurants, accommodation and culture). Creating such a subcategory is relatively easy. Grab the main category and gently slide it down to the right. The subcategory will save itself under the main category. Remember to save all changes.

Make sure both the ” Automatically add pages ” and ” Topic positions ” checkboxes are selected. Otherwise the menu may not work for you.
Your new scrolling menu will look like this:
